Kate Asche
Kate Asche’s work was recently published in Poetry, where it was awarded the 2024 Editors Prize for Visual Poetry. Earlier poems appeared in journals including the Denver Quarterly, DIAGRAM, The Pinch, and in Northern California publications including Canary, the Santa Clara Review, and the Tule Review. Her first poetry collection, the chapbook Our Day in the Labyrinth, was published by Finishing Line Press.
A graduate of the UC Davis Creative Writing Program, Kate brings to Sixteen Rivers Press over twenty years of teaching and helping to build a writing community in the Sacramento region. As a volunteer at national venues, she has seen her efforts make an impact in her own region. After a five-year break from writing that included becoming a mother, she looks forward to new experiences and opportunities with Sixteen Rivers Press.
Sixteen Rivers Press will publish Kate’s next book in 2028.

The play is set in Athens, and consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers. Another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding.
